Time: 1PM ET

Abstract:

Negative Stain imaging is a critical step in the single-particle cryo-EM workflow, allowing researchers to assess sample quality at room temperature before moving to complex cryo-preparation and imaging. Traditionally, this process requires a dedicated TEM and an experienced operator to handle the imaging.

The Phenom Pharos, a tabletop scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM), offers a cost-effective alternative that can produce high-magnification images of negatively stained samples in under a minute. With minimal training—just about an hour—anyone in the lab can operate the Phenom Pharos, making it an accessible solution for labs of all sizes.

In this webinar, we will introduce the Phenom Pharos and demonstrate how it can either replace an aging TEM or bring negative stain capabilities to your lab for the first time. We’ll walk through the simple process of loading a sample and generating high-resolution images, empowering you to quickly assess sample quality and streamline your workflow.
