Materials Scientist II / Electrospinning Scientist

Nanoscience Analytical performs contract research and development for companies from diverse industries, including energy storage, medical devices, automotive, aerospace, and many more. The focus of this role is the development of nanomaterials, specifically nanofibers created via electrospinning.

As a Material Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and characterizing materials for a variety of customers spanning industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, energy, and electronics. A significant portion of your work will focus on electrospinning nanofibers, a cutting-edge technique that enables the design of highly tunable materials with applications in drug delivery, tissue engineering, and filtration systems.

Your Role:

As a Material Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and characterizing materials for a variety of customers spanning industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, energy, and electronics. A significant portion of your work will focus on electrospinning nanofibers, a cutting-edge technique that enables the design of highly tunable materials with applications in drug delivery, tissue engineering, and filtration systems.

You’ll have the unique opportunity to work on multiple research projects simultaneously, gaining exposure to new materials and their practical applications across industries. This position is ideal for a scientist with a passion for applying fundamental research to real-world solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, design, and optimize nanofibers and membranes using electrospinning technology.
  • Conduct research on biomaterials, including polymers, hydrogels, and nanocomposites for applications like tissue scaffolding and wound healing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to prototype and test materials for unique applications in biotech, energy, and environmental fields.
  • Characterize material properties using SEM, FTIR, TGA, DSC, and other analytical tools.
  • Translate research results into customer-ready solutions, reports, and technical presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and contribute to innovative R&D strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field. 
  • Strong background in nanomaterials, biomaterials, or polymers.
  • Hands-on experience with electrospinning techniques is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques such as SEM, FTIR, and TGA.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a creative approach to applying material science principles to practical applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration and customer engagement.
